Elvira Maria Murguia Olivares Gutierrez was born September 5, 1927 in Dewey, Oklahoma to Ramon Murguia and Caritina Olivares. Elvira is one of 10 children and survived by her sister Alicia. She lived in Tangancicuaro, Mexico and came to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to live with her brother, Filiberto and Carmen Murguia. She helped raise their 5 children, Christina, Catherine, David, Carmen and Raymond. She was thought of as a second mother to the children. Elvira, a devout Catholic, dedicated her life to praying, the bible and serving as a Guadalupana and for many years she worked in food processing. In her free time she truly enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crocheting. After retirement, Elvira dedicated her life to caring for, feeding and visiting the elderly.
Elvira met and married the love of her life, the late Don Jesus Gutierrez. They lived for many wonderful years together on Milwaukee’s East side. She went on to live at Southpointe Healthcare Center until her death.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nephews and the family of Don Jesus. Further surviving are many other beloved family members and dear friends.
Preceding her in death are her siblings Rita, Maria Del Carmen, Alfredo, Mercedes, Francisco, Catalina, Maria Cecilia, Ramon and Filiberto.
Visitation Monday, October 30, 2023 starting at 10am with services at Noon. Followed by procession to St Adalbert Cemetery for Entombment.
