Jim is a second generation funeral director. His father, Norbert, established the Witkowiak Funeral Home on 5th and Mitchell Street in Milwaukee in 1949. Jim is also owner and operated of Brett Funeral Home since 2005. He is a graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science and holds a degree in engineering.
He is a former member of the City of Milwaukee Common Council representing Milwaukee’s 12th Aldermanic District, a founder of God Touch Milwaukee, part of the Milwaukee Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation and the United States Selective Service. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
John is a Licensed Funeral Director and a 2007 graduate of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Funeral Service Program. He also holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in Speech Pathology and Audiology and formerly was a regulatory compliance officer for a national bank and executive director of the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center of Wisconsin.
He is active in Milwaukee Irish Fest, Treasurer of the Irish Fest Foundation, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Shamrock Club of Wisconsin and a member of Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
